Rustic Farmhouse Boys Shared Bedroom- The Final Reveal:

1-Entry

Welcome to the boys bedroom!  Come on in 🙂

Enter Boys bedroom

I wanted a clean look for when you first walk into the bedroom.  As a result, we painted the wall to the right our Milk Moustache White color to achieve the fresh & bright entry to the room.

I LOVE carpet in the bedroom- it’s so cozy!  When we first moved into the house, we immediately updated the flooring in all our bedrooms for a fresh new start.  You’ll notice the soft white carpet with a square pattern on it in this room.  The pattern hides a bit more than a typical solid color carpet- and with 2 boys, this is a MUST with white carpeting!

Entering the Boys Bedroom

As you continue into the bedroom, you start seeing the entire built-in and all the functionality that comes with it.  The only future change I have to make it choosing a new light fixture for this room.

2-Built-in Cabinets & Window Bench

One of the necessities for our built-in unit was having some storage for clothes.  We included a 4 drawer dresser unit on either side of the windows so that each of our boys had a place to put their clothing.

Built-in Dresser

Here is a look at the entire unit!  We achieved a symmetrical look with a large window bench in between each of our dresser and bookcase units.

Built-in Cabinets

The bookcase units give the boys the opportunity to display their personalized items that they are super proud of (books, toys, awards, pictures, etc).

Built-in Window Bench

This is my FAVORITE spot in this room!  The built-in window bench was the perfect addition to this room- seems like the Hulk and Spiderman don’t mind it either 😉

We added a custom window bench seat- made from a local business.  We chose this Sunbrella material because it won’t fade from the sun, has excellent wear & tear, and is easy to clean.

Window Bench Storage

The best part of the window bench seat?  All of the storage it provides underneath- 2 large baskets per door.  Our boys are able to store lots of toys and other items that they might want in their bedroom.  Each door has a simple push and open feature too!

Plus, see the cut out slots?  We originally had a vent under the window that was redirected and attached to the toe kick under the cabinet.  Now, the air actually gets moved around the room much better than before 🙂

3-Feature Wall

This feature wall gave the entire room that rustic style!

Final Reveal Rustic Farmhouse Feature Wall

I love how the barn boards turned out- they have imperfections, knots, and even holes in the boards and that’s what makes them unique!

Rustic Farmhouse Hooks and Mirror

Once we added the accessories, the wall was complete!  Check out this round farmhouse metal mirror I picked up from Home Sense for under $60!  I love how it hangs from a rope over the barn boards!

Farmhouse Hooks

Also, these farmhouse hooks provide the perfect spot to hang up pajamas, hats, or even a house coat each day!

4-Farmhouse Metal Beds

We originally had bunk beds in the room, but with all the natural light that shines through, this room gets too hot for the person on the top bunk!  So, when overhauling this bedroom, it was a definite that new beds were on the shopping list!

As a result, we found these twin metal beds off of Wayfair for a great price- less than $400 each!  Just another quick way to achieve the farmhouse style by adding in a metal bed.

Farmhouse Metal Beds

Also, we added some personalized letters in our neon green pop of color above the bed.  We purchased these letters at Michaels and spray painted them our neon green.  Our next step was to attach them onto a corkboard and frame them in some leftover frames we had lying around downstairs.

Industrial Metal bed

Here is a close up of our farmhouse metal bed and makeshift bedside table.  We chose a silver metal 3 tiered cart that is perfect for this space.  Each boy has a tray to put their items in (like reading books) and on the top is their alarm clock and essential oils diffuser.

New Bedding

Finally, we purchased new bedding that coordinated with our color scheme.  The boys don’t like heavy blankets, so I found this cute grey double sided coverlet and grey/white plaid flannet blanket that is sooooo soft from Walmart.

5-Wall Decal

The last thing that I really wanted was a wall decal that outlines daily reminders for our boys.  I believe in being humble & kind and want to raise strong boys in this manner.  So I found this perfect decal on Amazon- How to Be a Gentleman!

Decal

I love it so much and it’s the perfect addition to this wall.  I didn’t want anything to stick out from this wall and make it look bulky!  So this decal serves the job well 🙂  Here’s a close-up below–what great values to instill in our young boys!
