What a year- 2020!  No matter how you are spending your Staycation Christmas, I wish nothing but peace and positivity as we look forward to the New Year.  We decked the halls as much as we could this year and today I’d love to take you on our 2020 Christmas Home Tour!

Merry Christmas 2020

We will be spending our Christmas Day here at home…for the FIRST TIME EVER!  And I’m pretty pumped.  The kiddos will get to open their gifts and then actually spend the day playing with them- it’s exciting.

We are trying to stay positive this season, despite the fact that all our extended family holiday gatherings have been canceled or held virtually.  We have been enjoying a daily family fun advent activity since the beginning of December which has made the countdown to Christmas super fun & exciting!

What are your staycation Christmas plans this year?

No matter what…enjoy your time with loved ones and spread some Christmas spirit.  Above all, take the time to rest, relax, and recharge for the New Year!

But for now, just enjoy an inside peek at how we decorated our home this year for Christmas!

We’ll be Home for Christmas Home Tour 2020

This year, we didn’t get our Christmas decorations up until the beginning of December..which is super late for me!  Normally, I’m putting up the tree after Remembrance Day in Canada.

But, we are in the middle of an addition renovation (posts coming out in the New Year) and we were waiting on some drywall being installed and completed first.  I mean…I didn’t want to have to clean all the drywall dust out of my Christmas tree branches right!?!

However, I am thinking of keeping the tree up later this year.  We start back up at school on January 4th but have been restricted to online learning from home until the 25th of January.  So, perhaps keeping some sparkle and joy around for a bit longer will make things prettier and give a more positive outlook in the New Year.

So, although a little later than expected, I can’t wait to share with you our Christmas Home Tour this year!

Enjoy 🙂

Our Staycation Christmas Home Tour 2020:

Our style is Neutral Farmhouse Christmas.  My goal this year was to blend in my Christmas decor with our home style.  This means using lots of neutral and white colors in my holiday decorations.

Coastal Modern Farmhouse Christmas

Due to our addition renovation, we had to move our Christmas tree to a new location this year on the opposite side of our fireplace and cabinet.  I actually prefer it in this spot as it’s more central on our main floor.

Our fireplace gets decorated with a touch of simplicity.  I love adding a garland on top of our mantle that is off-centered and hanging low on one side.  Top it off with a beaded garland, bells, stockings, and VOILA!

O Christmas Tree

Here’s a close-up of our tree where you can see our burlap ribbon, neutral ornaments, and our DIY farmhouse wood ornaments that we made last year!

Christmas Home Tour Entryway

Our entryway is also decorated in a simple manner.  Some greenery garland, ornaments, a large lantern & pine cones.  It’s more about dressing up the foyer and making it welcoming & festive, rather than overdoing it.

Christmas Home Tour- Stockings

I picked up these stockings and beaded garland last year from Canadian Tire and love them!  3 stockings hung on the fireplace with care for our 3 kiddos.

Christmas Bells

Can you tell that tend to buy items in 3’s?  Our Christmas bells hang on one side of our fireplace and look perfectly placed!

Christmas Home Tour- Deer

Styling a cute tray like this one above is another simple way of adding in some Christmas Decor.  Try to add different items and heights though.  We added a lantern full of ornaments & pine cones, with 2 cute taller wood Christmas trees and completed the look with our 3 deer in front.

Simple, Neutral, and Festive Farmhouse

Christmas Home Tour- Noel

This year I tried something new by adding a greenery garland above our dining room light.  Do you like it?

Christmas Home Tour- Dining Room

I love tablescapes where all the fancy dinner dishes are out and displayed…but it just isn’t me.  I’ve kept my coastal runner and just added in some festive decor pieces in little DIY farmhouse trays that my hubby made for me a couple of years ago.

Christmas Home Tour- Reflection

I love reflection pictures and this one turned out pretty great!

Christmas Home Tour- Joy

Adding a large basket full of festive stems is an easy way to provide height where needed.  In front is my marquee JOY sign– I’m thinking we all need a little JOY in our lives this year!

Merry Christmas Y'all

Cute festive slippers right?  These slippers double as dusters as I walk around the home too.  OK, it’s time to let the wrapping begin…with this craft reindeer paper I found at Walmart.

My 5 Rules for Decorating for Christmas:

  1. Choose a color scheme that works with your existing home style.
  2. Buy pieces that you love and have meaning to you –such as my 3 deer for 3 kiddos.
  3. Use trays in different locations to create a festive display of your beautiful Christmas Decor.
  4. Add stems & branches into taller vases or baskets to provide height where needed.
  5. Don’t OVERDO it!  Make your holiday style blend in and feel welcoming, not overstimulating!

Thanks for stopping today for our Holiday Home Tour 2020!  I hope you enjoyed and were inspired along the way.

Season’s Greetings everyone!
