Width of room (in feet) + length of room (in feet) = diameter/width of chandelier (in inches)

Consider the height of your ceilings as well. Vaulted ceilings or two-story rooms can handle a grand chandelier that will take up some of the visual height, whereas a room with only 8ft ceilings cannot.

2-Texture:

What sort of material would you like to see in your space? Is it glass, wood, beads, wrought iron, or metal? This goes back to the “feeling” of the room you are trying to achieve. Feel comfortable mixing the textures of your lighting fixtures, especially if you have an open concept floor plan.

3-Color:

The Modern Farmhouse style usually includes mixed metals for colors including matte black, rubbed bronze, pewter or brushed nickel, gold, and galvanized steel.

4-Choose Timeless:

As mentioned above, lighting is not cheap and it’s a good idea to choose styles that you are going to love for a long period of time. Trendy light fixtures are fun and in the moment, but also just as fast as the lighting style became popular, it will become unpopular again.

Instead, spend less money on trendy products for the room including wall art, tabletop décor, mirrors, pillows, and much more!

5-Layer Your Lighting:
