It all started when I was home one day taking care of a sick child.  I just happened to catch a bit of the Dr. Oz show!  I love this show and always get so much information out of it that sparks discussion about certain health related issues.  In fact, it normally causes me to “check” my own health out.

Why I drink ACV everyday

On this episode in particular, they were discussing a “Magic Drink” that cures bloating and other tummy troubles.  I was hooked!  Ever since having babies, I’ve been experiencing…difficulties…to say the least in digesting properly.

The secret ingredient was Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)!!!

Why ACV?

Apple Cider Vinegar has many proven health benefits.  I was blown away by just how MANY benefits this ingredient actually has!  The great part about it all is that it’s been tested and supported by science.

For this blog post, I’m going to concentrate on taking ACV as a DRINK.  When I finished watching that Dr. Oz show, I hopped on the internet and began doing some research as how to drink ACV, what ingredients were needed and when to drink ACV.  My first attempt did not go over well.  I remember coming home from the grocery store and making the drink for my husband and I.

This is what I put in it–

  • hot water
  • 1 tablespoon ACV
  • lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger

Our reaction?  Baaaahhhhh.  It was very tart- a bit harsh and definitely vinegary.  Also, the ginger and cayenne pepper did not dissolve well, and so it was not enjoyable to drink.  Our conclusion- we would give it another try, but it would have to be a 1, 2, 3, chug sort of drink.  And for the next two weeks, we drank this “solution” right before dinner every day.

Sounds delicious right?

Maybe not, but I’ll tell you, I noticed a difference right away!  Well, maybe not immediately after drinking the concoction, but within a couple of days.  Good thing this isn’t the only way to drink ACV!  I’ve found lots of other recipes, however most of them include juice- which I would love to stay away from- the less sugar the better 🙂

Since then, I’ve adjusted the way I consume the ACV drink and now I ENJOY it!  The way I make the drink now is not as complicated and takes a whole 30 seconds to put together.

How & Why I use ACV:

Every morning I make a lemon tea with a tablespoon of ACV in it.  That’s it!  Super Delicious- extremely easy to make too!

I choose the morning so that it works through the digestive track throughout the day while I am eating my breakfast, lunch and dinner.  It helps relieve the bloating that I would normally begin feeling in the early afternoon and I am comfortable all day long while at work.

ACV Detox Drink

I will continue using ACV on a daily basis for a few reasons:

  • Ever since having babies, my digestive track does not work well
  • I battle Hypothyroidism and I find ACV helps my metabolism/ energy levels
  • NO bloating (or look 6 months pregnant) in the afternoon anymore- INSTEAD- I look like I have a flat stomach at any hour of the day 🙂
  • NO experiencing any stomach pain or cramping anymore
  • My hair & skin look healthier
  • It might have helped my lose some weight (I can’t say for sure because I have also been doing other changes to my diet that might have caused the weight loss instead- read that article here)
